Steve Hidano was named Builder of the Year in 1990 by the Building Industry Association of Hawaii, of which he is also past president.

Steve also received national recognition when he was named 1992 National Minority Construction Firm of the Year by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Hidano Construction was also one of the first construction companies in the State of Hawaii to have a certified safety program to obtain a worker's compensation insurance discount through legislation passed on worker's compensation reform
